In 1998, ElmerJ came about in our efforts to select a name for, who would ultimately become, Charles Parker Condon.
Margaret and I had an enormous list of names created prior to our 1st child's birth. Before a name was selected, I suggested Elmer Jesus Condon. I thought this would, in some small way, placate both families (she's Mexican and I'm a Miller Lite man). It also acted as an impetus to find a suitable name!
ElmerJ was becoming a reality!! I mean, if you already have a shirt printed with the name, it's pretty much a done deal, right?
Even with such great pressure to select an appropriate name, Margaret and I were at an impasse. Finally, on the night before Charles' arrival, through the scientific approach of selecting names from a hat, we reached paydirt! In an 11th hour deal, Charles Parker Condon was agreed upon by all parties. Fortunately for Charlie, ElmerJ is now only folklore for him.
